The Chiang Rai region in Thailand’s north is a motorbike enthusiasts utopia. In this episode GT Rider founder David Unkovich and several enthusiastic expat companions ride from Chiang Saen through to the Phaya Phipak Forest and its exciting ‘Big Dipper’ steep sector on their way to Chiang Kham and the glorious HWY 1148.

It’s not a long ride ….. only 10 kilometres, but it’s a steep one …… perhaps one of the steepest in Thailand. A road that was built by sheer determination and the cost of many lives around the Phu Chi Fa mountain region in Chiang Rai Province
