The Red Lotus Lake, locally called Talay Bua Daeng, is one of Thailand’s most striking natural attractions.
It is located in Udon Thani Province in northeast Thailand. During peak season, millions of blooms create a pink carpet across the water.
The best way to see it is by small boat tours that travel through the lotus fields. Boat tours usually depart from Ban Diam Pier and a typical boat trip lasts around 45-90 minutes in length.
The lake is part of Nong Han Lake, about 40 km east of Udon Thani city and is one of the largest lotus lakes in the world. The best time to visit is between November and February.
If you miss the Thai season, you can head to Vietnam’s Mekong Delta in Moc Hoa , Long An Province.
Catch the water lilies being harvested from August to November.
